Truly Thankful for Scholarships

As a college student, being financially stable is a struggle with having to pay for everything that comes with college. Some of these college expenses may include food, tuition, books, and living, which vary significantly from semester to semester. I have been fortunate enough to be able to be relieved from some of these ongoing expenses. Through my hometown, state, as well as NDSU itself, I have been able to win multiple scholarships.  I bring up the topic of scholarships because it is something that is on my current to-do list, as well as something I encourage every college student to apply for. In just a few short days, NDSU scholarships are due, which means that I have to reread and perfect all my applications to ensure that I am applying for them to the best of my ability. Many students do not take the opportunity to apply for such applications, as they think it is too much work or too much to think about. However, I have been able to relieve so much financial stress because of

"Living in the Moment"

It's interesting how often we rush through life and do not take time to breathe. As a college student, someone who works 20 hours a week, is currently wedding planning, and makes time for my friends, I am often guilty of overpowering myself and not taking this time. I do not often sit quietly and observe the world around me and within me. Do you? Do you take this time to appreciate all of what God has given you? By sitting and observing the world around you, you are better able to "live in the moment." Calmly engaging at the moment and being aware of your engagement better helps you to relax and take time for yourself. Recently, I took the chance to sit for 5 whole minutes and do nothing, except breathe and look around me. By doing this, I was able to notice things around me that I have never noticed before. Have you ever noticed the paintwork in your home or apartment? That was something I noticed quickly after taking this quiet time. I noticed how not all the paint was

ENG 320 Goal/Objective that Can Benefit my Future

As a student in Business Professional Writing 320 at NDSU, I am learning essential skills on how to communicate effectively, write clearly, and be more professional in my communication through speaking or writing.  The skills above are able to thrive off of one particular objective this course aims to achieve during the semester. This objective is in the context of developing professionalism. Professionalism includes exhibiting certain qualities that include self-direction, cooperation, civility, reliability, and care in editing and presenting a certain product or service. To successfully achieve this objective or goal, I am able to practice the usefulness of collaborating in workplace teams on various projects throughout the semester, through this English course.  In the future, the development of my professionalism is essential, especially as a business student. It is important for me to maintain professionalism in my future workplace and environment. It is also essential for me to

Balancing Work, College, and Social Life

As many of you already know, I am a junior in college at NDSU. I also recently began a new position at Brady Martz and Associates. When you had the privilege of reading my blog about myself, you may also have read about my desire to hang out with friends and spend time with family. However, let me tell you about the mechanisms I created to ensure that I am able to be successful in each of the areas.  One of the biggest things I realized after attending college and starting my new job, is that I need to be precise and flexible with my schedule. Oftentimes, jobs have set schedules, just as mine does, as well as certain times that college classes are offered. When creating the schedule between the two, I had to choose my priorities and what I needed to be focusing on the most right now in my life. In this case, college is the step I need to be completing in order to further my future in an occupation I desire for.  On the other hand, I needed to use my college class schedule to correlate
