NDSU offers a wide variety of courses for business students. It is important to research what each class is about, to ensure that the courses we are taking are peaking our interests. Included in this post, you will be able to read about each of the courses I am taking and why I chose to take them in relation to my major.

International Business
International Business is a course on the differences between domestic operations, including the benefits of operating across the globe. This involves business transactions between people that are from different countries, explaining how international business is an important part of the global economy. The course goes into depth on the political, cultural, and economic problems managers are facing through international operations. This course is essential for me to take this semester, as my major in business administration requires me to take this course. I believe it is essential I am knowledgeable about business internationally and not only in the U.S.

Business Law I- Contracts, Property, and Torts
Business Law I is a course on the study of the foundations of law in business and other commercial transactions. This includes covering the law of contracts, personal property, real estate, insurance, wills and estates, and torts. The course goes into depth on teaching the sources of American law, elements of a valid contract, the differences between real and personal property, and basic tort principles. It is essential that I take this course this semester not only because it is required for my major, but also because it allows me to become knowledgeable about the laws relating to business and how I can handle them in the future.

Business Professional Writing
Business Professional Writing is a course on professional communication within a workplace. This includes focusing on written, oral, visual, and collaborative communication that will help me learn to respond to various writing tasks in my future workplace. By taking this course, I am becoming a better communicator, being able to integrate knowledge in a meaningful manner, and will develop professionalism for my future occupation in finance or business administration.

Investment Analysis and Management
Investment Analysis and Management evaluates various securities for investment, investment analysis, concepts of efficient markets, and market risks. Through this course, I am also learning of key points in portfolio management and international investment aspects. As a student with a major in Finance, this is a required course for me to be taking. It is essential for my future in finance, as I am gaining an understanding of financial markets, analyzing equity securities, learning portfolio theory and capital market theory, and practicing asset allocation.

Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management
Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management focuses on entrepreneurial ideas, processes, and individuals in relation to entrepreneurship. Through this course, I am able to apply management, marketing, and finance tools to the small business side of things. I am obtaining a certificate in entrepreneurship, so this course was one that piqued my interest, as I am contemplating one day owning my very own business. This course was also a requirement for me to take with my business administration major.

As you have read above, each of these courses is a huge asset to my future occupation. Through business writing and small business management, I am able to learn some clear insights and gain knowledge that I am confident I will be able to use in my future career.

Truly Thankful for Scholarships

As a college student, being financially stable is a struggle with having to pay for everything that comes with college. Some of these college expenses may include food, tuition, books, and living, which vary significantly from semester to semester. I have been fortunate enough to be able to be relieved from some of these ongoing expenses. Through my hometown, state, as well as NDSU itself, I have been able to win multiple scholarships.  I bring up the topic of scholarships because it is something that is on my current to-do list, as well as something I encourage every college student to apply for. In just a few short days, NDSU scholarships are due, which means that I have to reread and perfect all my applications to ensure that I am applying for them to the best of my ability. Many students do not take the opportunity to apply for such applications, as they think it is too much work or too much to think about. However, I have been able to relieve so much financial stress because of

Finishing the Spring Semester Strong

It's crazy to think how the past year of college has gone by so fast. I started my second year of college here at North Dakota State University just a short time ago. I am nearing the end of my second year and quickly approaching the final weeks before the summer break. Enclosed within these final few weeks are the various last-minute assignments, final exams, and wrapping-up projects that I have spent a significant amount of time on, throughout this past semester.  Despite this past semester going by so quickly, I find it very important to not let time control my work. If I focus on the time and become overwhelmed with rushing to finish the final work that needs to be done, I will not be able to finish my work in a good manner. Finishing my work strong and with great depth is important in my education and my future with the knowledge I am gaining through each of my courses. If I rush the work, I will not be able to remember as much of the information nor be able to do the work to

Progress on My Degree Outlook

As someone who began college unsure of what to do with their future, I have been able to create a deeper foundation for what my future will look like. Recently, I was able to fully declare my plan of study, as I have been able to take classes related to each of my majors, a minor, and numerous certificates that give me an idea of what I would be working with. I was able to declare my double majors in Business Administration and Finance, my minor in Banking, and my certificates in Entrepreneurship, Private Enterprises, and Sales. With each of these additional steps in my academic career, I plan to fulfill a critical business role in the future.  You may be wondering why I chose to have two majors, and on top of that, add a minor. As if that wasn't enough, you may think I am crazy for adding not one, but THREE additional certificates to my study plan. However, I have a love for each of these areas and thoroughly enjoy being able to increase my knowledge in them. My dream has always b
